The Global Dialogue Prize is presented in the context of a public award ceremony. Typically the award ceremony is part of a large international conference or congress in relevant academic areas. Both the international audience and the changing geographic location of the host event of the award are to ensure its increasing global presence.
The physical symbol of the award, a glass sculpture designed by Italian artist Silvana Nannini, emphasizes in material and form the hallmarks of dialogue: fluidity, fragility, translucence, and influence. The symbol could be seen as a new interpretation of lapis philosophorum, the philosopher’s stone, now understood as the transformative sphere of dialogue, intertwining the strands of traditions of culture and thought, propagating in the sea of life as intercultural thought in action
